Lew graduated from the University of Tasmania, Australia with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2008. He obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice in 2009 where he received the Legal Qualifying Board’s Award for civil procedure and was called to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor in 2010.

Lew’s principal areas of practice are equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate and commercial matters. His experience includes initial public offerings in Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited ("HKEX") and Singapore Exchange Limited, mergers and acquisitions of companies and businesses, takeovers, corporate restructuring exercises and fund-raising exercises involving private equity funds and venture capital funds.

He is regularly involved in domestic and cross-border corporate transactions involved in advising, negotiating and drafting a wide spectrum of corporate and commercial agreements for local and foreign clients spanning the Asia Pacific region – People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia.

Lew speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bahasa Malaysia and is able to converse in Hakka.


Notable Transactions

  • Advising on the proposed listing of a Malaysia based company involved in the recycling of scrap ferrous metals and used batteries on the Main Board of HKEX.
  • Advising on the proposed listing of a Malaysia based wholesale trader, distributor and importer of mobile phones, tablet and cell phone accessories company on the GEM of HKEX.
  • Advised the merger of three companies listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia.
  • Advised a debt restructuring for a company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. 
  • Reverse take over exercise for company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia involved in the business of developing and marketing of voice technologies and telecom software services which entailed the acquisition of white knight companies, scheme of arrangement and debt novation.
  • Advised a company listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange on its investment of RM117 million in a Malaysia company listed on Bursa Malaysia.
