Leonie graduated from the University of Tasmania, Australia with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2004. She obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2005 and underwent her pupillage under the esteemed litigator Dato’ Narayanan Chandran at Messrs. Albar & Partners while gaining experience in the fields of Banking & Finance and Corporate & Commercial. Leonie was then called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2006. She obtained her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in Melbourne in 2007 and is also qualified to practise as a solicitor in Australia. While in Melbourne, Leonie secured a legal internship at Tolhurst Druce & Emmerson under an experienced litigator in the areas of business law, property law, wills and estates.

Leonie’s main practice areas include property-related acquisitions and disposals and commercial real estate matters but also complements her practice with a range of corporate and general law matters. Her practice also encompasses the review and drafting of key documents for the acquisition and disposal of residential and commercial properties and handles the loan transactions in relation thereto. Leonie also has experience in corporate matters and has conducted numerous due diligence exercises on listed companies in Malaysia.  She also drafts Wills in her practice.

Leonie speaks fluent English and Bahasa Malaysia, and is able to converse in Cantonese, Hakka and Mandarin.


Notable transactions

  • Advising, reviewing and drafting the sale and purchase agreement for the acquisition of a 4 acres freehold land in a prime location in Klang Valley for approximately RM35 million. 

  • Advising, reviewing and drafting the sale and purchase agreement for the acquisition of a 3 acres land in central Klang Valley for the consideration of RM32 million. 

  • Advising, reviewing and drafting the complete set of key documents including the sale and purchase agreement, shareholders agreement, supplemental agreement, novation agreement and power of attorney for a public-listed property developer in relation to a joint venture for the acquisition of development lands of about 280 acres for the purchase price of about RM500 million, which the joint ventures plans to re-develop into a mixed residential and commercial development.   

  • Advising on the acquisition of 200 acres of recreational land with rezoning approval for the purchase consideration of over RM200 million for the purpose of property development.
